Inventory Slotting
Kemp Systems provides Inventory Slotting and Product Placement Services. Our definitions of Inventory Slotting and Product Placement are:
Product Placement is the semi-automated placement of storage groups into storage bays or storage rows.
Storage Groups can be any grouping, sub grouping or combination of: product families, vendor families, storage load types (i.e. large pallet loads), promotional items, and seasonal groups.
Storage Bays are rack bays, shelf units, or floor storage bays
Inventory Slotting is the semi-automated placement and adjustment of storage loads to dedicated storage and random locations.
Storage Loads are pallets, unit loads, shelf openings or a group of items.
Every year the “inventory mix” changes due to various events:
• New customer requirements
• Marketing and packaging changes
• New product lines
• Different product that become fast movers or slow movers

So, inventory storage adjustments are required to:
• Improve space utilization
• Improve order picking productivity
• Reduce double handling
• Provide faster and more frequent order deliveries
Data-based Layouts
Our Inventory Slotting and Product Placement Program starts with standard databases and spreadsheets and provides graphical results – illustrating exactly where your inventory is located for dedicated storage, random overflow and staging locations.
A "Storage Bay" can display a storage group, storage load (SKU), storage location, Bay ID or the location's picking activity for a SKU. The Inventory Placement Program is "visual" and makes it easy to "see where you're at" and how to adjust accordingly.
